Here's how it works:
Step 1: Make a list of tasks
Identify all the activities required for the project. The Outline view makes
this easy - just type in the tasks one after another. You can reorganize items
by dragging them and you can create summary tasks to group similar tasks
The object of this step is to identify relatively small specific pieces of work.
Once you've identified all of the activities required to execute the project,
you're ready for the next step.
Step 2: Put tasks in the right order
Decide how much time you want to allocate for each task and use the Timeline
view to arrange items in their proper sequence. If some tasks can't be started
until other ones are completed, you can create a link between them to reflect
this. The advantage of creating these links, is that the second task
automatically moves with the first one. Once you have your project laid out in
Timeline view, you'll be able to see how long the whole project will take and
make adjustments if needed.
Step 3: Assign the tasks
Now it's time to assign responsibility for each task in the project using the
Assigned To view. By default, it assigns each item to the person that created
the project, but you can easily delegate tasks to other users just by dragging
the task to a name in the list.
Step 4: Schedule the work
Schedule the work using the Scheduler view. You can bring up schedules for each
person involved in the project and drag tasks to the appropriate time slots.
These schedule items link to the PHONEslips Scheduler.
Step 5: Track progress
As work progresses on your project, you can easily see how things are going. As
tasks are completed, they can be checked off and everyone involved in the
project can see the update immediately. There's also a project Hotlist that
shows all critical tasks assigned to you and a 'quick add' feature for those
times when a task comes to mind.
